Introduction

Overview of Navabharthi Mandal Samakhya

Navabharthi Mandal Samakhya was formed on 13 September 2003 with the objective of strengthening community institutions and promoting the socio-economic empowerment of rural women in Raghunathpally Mandal of Jangaon District, Telangana. Over the years, the Mandal Samakhya has emerged as a strong community-based organization supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organizations (VOs), livelihood promotion, financial inclusion, and social development initiatives.

The Mandal comprises 36 Gram Panchayats and has successfully established 53 Village Organizations covering a total of 14,567 families. Among these households, 6,229 families belong to the Poorest of the Poor (POP) and Poor categories, including 1,360 POP families and 4,869 Poor families.

SHG Network and Community Coverage

Self-Help Group Membership

Navabharthi Mandal Samakhya has built a strong network of Self-Help Groups across all social categories. A total of 1,347 SHGs are functioning under the Mandal, representing 14,567 women members. The SHG composition includes 386 Scheduled Caste (SC) groups with 4,243 members, 135 Scheduled Tribe (ST) groups with 1,466 members, 780 Backward Class (BC) groups with 8,171 members, and 46 Open Category (OC) groups with 687 members.

SHG and VO Integration

Out of the total SHGs in the Mandal, 1,345 SHGs have been federated into 53 Village Organizations. All 53 Village Organizations have completed their registration process and are actively participating in community development and financial management activities.

Capacity Building and Training Programs

Training of SHG Members

Capacity building has been a major focus area for the Mandal Samakhya. A total of 752 SHGs comprising 9,024 members received training on SHG concepts, group norms, leadership development, and group management practices. Additionally, 489 SHGs with 5,868 members were trained on Micro Credit Plan (MCP) preparation and financial planning.

Training of Community Leaders

Leadership development programs were conducted for Village Organization representatives. Thirty-six VO representatives underwent two-day training programs covering group management, VO concepts, and organizational management. Furthermore, 74 VO representatives received specialized training on MCP appraisal, VO registration procedures, and implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

Training of Book Keepers

A total of 306 SHG Book Keepers were trained on transaction recording, maintenance of accounts, and bookkeeping practices. Similarly, 53 VO Book Keepers received training on Village Organization bookkeeping systems to ensure transparency and accountability in financial operations.

Community Investment Fund and MCP Implementation

CIF Support

The Mandal Samakhya has received Community Investment Fund (CIF) support amounting to ₹205.87 lakhs. These funds have played a crucial role in strengthening livelihoods, supporting vulnerable families, and promoting sustainable economic activities across the Mandal.

Micro Credit Plans

A total of 384 SHGs were provided Micro Credit Plans (MCPs) with an investment value of ₹5.36 crores. The MCP program has benefited 2,198 members, including 960 SC beneficiaries, 284 ST beneficiaries, 866 BC beneficiaries, and 88 OC beneficiaries. These interventions have significantly contributed to income generation and livelihood enhancement among rural women.

Institutional Strengthening

Book Keeper Support System

All Self-Help Groups under the Mandal Samakhya are regularly paying honorariums to their Book Keepers, ensuring sustainability and proper maintenance of records. In addition, all 53 Village Organizations have dedicated VO Book Keepers and functional office facilities for carrying out organizational activities effectively.

MCP Grounding at Village Level

All 53 Village Organizations have successfully implemented and grounded MCP activities with an overall investment of ₹5.36 crores, ensuring that financial resources are utilized for productive livelihood activities.

Livelihood and Community Development Initiatives

Marketing Activities

Twenty-two Village Organizations have initiated marketing activities to support members in selling their products and improving access to local markets. These initiatives have strengthened entrepreneurship and income generation opportunities for women.

Community Resource Person Strategy

The Community Resource Person (CRP) strategy has been successfully implemented in 23 Village Organizations. Through this approach, experienced community members provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to strengthen community institutions and livelihood activities.

Financial Performance

Loan Portfolio and Recovery

The total outstanding CIF loan portfolio at the Village Organization level stands at ₹3.84 crores. The Mandal Samakhya earns an average monthly interest income of approximately ₹1,90,000, demonstrating strong financial sustainability and effective fund management.

Repayment Performance

The Mandal Samakhya has achieved an exceptional repayment rate of 100 percent at the Mandal level, reflecting the financial discipline and commitment of SHG members and Village Organizations.

Social Security and Insurance Support

Insurance Claims

The organization has facilitated insurance claim settlements for 21 members, providing financial assistance amounting to ₹44.27 lakhs. These claims have supported families during difficult circumstances and enhanced social security among members.

Disability Inclusion and Empowerment

Support for Persons with Disabilities

Navabharthi Mandal Samakhya has placed significant emphasis on the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The Mandal has identified 1,632 disability members, of whom 1,080 are receiving disability pensions. Disability certificates have been issued to 1,667 individuals through the Sadaram software system. To strengthen collective action and livelihood opportunities, 43 PWD Self-Help Groups have also been formed.

Financial Inclusion Programs

Bank Linkage Achievements

During the financial year 2025–26, a total of 578 Self-Help Groups received bank linkage loans amounting to ₹41.69 crores. This achievement has strengthened access to institutional credit and promoted entrepreneurship among SHG members.

Stree Nidhi Performance

Under the Stree Nidhi program, 27 Village Organizations received loans totaling ₹4.53 crores during 2025–26. The program achieved a recovery rate of 88 percent, indicating effective utilization and repayment of credit by member groups.

Social Development Activities

Guppedu Pappu Program

As part of its social responsibility initiatives, all 53 Village Organizations actively participate in the Guppedu Pappu program. Under this initiative, 15 kilograms of pulses are collected and distributed among 12 needy members, promoting community support and food security.

Community Service Cadres

Bank Mitras

The Mandal Samakhya has trained and deployed three Bank Mitras who assist community members in accessing banking services, financial literacy, and digital transactions.

Pashu Mitras

Twelve Pashu Mitras are actively supporting livestock development activities by providing technical guidance and veterinary-related assistance to livestock-owning households.

Producer Groups and Livelihood Promotion

Farmer Producer Groups

To strengthen agricultural livelihoods and collective marketing, the Mandal Samakhya has facilitated the formation of 29 Farmer Producer Groups. These groups help farmers access better inputs, technology, and market opportunities.

Livestock Producer Groups

The Mandal has also established 26 Livestock Producer Groups to support animal husbandry activities and enhance income opportunities for rural households engaged in livestock rearing.

Community Professionals and Auditors

SHG Auditors

A team of 15 SHG Auditors has been developed to ensure transparency, accountability, and regular auditing of Self-Help Groups and Village Organizations.

Community Resource Persons

The Mandal Samakhya has three dedicated Community Resource Persons (CRPs) working under the Enterprise Promotion (EP) component. These professionals provide technical guidance and support for livelihood promotion and enterprise development activities.
