Introduction to Pragati Mandal Samakhya

Establishment and Coverage

Pragati Mandal Samakhya was established on 26 December 2004 in Geesugonda Mandal. The Mandal comprises 21 Gram Panchayats. At present, the Samakhya consists of 942 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with a total membership of 9,346 women. Additionally, 36 Village Organizations (VOs) function under the Mandal Samakhya, strengthening community-based development initiatives across the region.

Financial Growth and Performance

The Mandal Samakhya has received a Community Investment Fund (CIF) grant amounting to ₹2,16,87,652. It has achieved an impressive CIF recovery rate of 98.44%, reflecting strong financial discipline and effective fund utilization. Furthermore, the Samakhya has invested ₹61,00,000 as deposits and share capital in Stree Nidhi, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable financial empowerment.

Awards and Recognitions

National-Level Achievements

One of the Samakhya’s affiliated groups, Swami Saranam Ayyappa Sangham, received a national-level award and a grant of ₹1 lakh during 2016–17. Similarly, Mudiraj Sangham secured a national-level award along with a grant of ₹1 lakh during 2017–18, bringing recognition to the efforts of women’s collectives within the Mandal.

State-Level Honors

Bhagya Sri Sangham received a state-level award during 2017–18 for its outstanding performance. Kasturi Sangham gained recognition in 2019–20 by participating in a state-level event in Hyderabad, where representatives had the opportunity to present and explain their organizational activities before the Hon’ble Governor.

Special Recognitions

Pragati Mandal Samakhya was recognized as the Best Mandal Samakhya and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the District Collector on 26 January 2016. In the financial year 2023–24, the Samakhya was honored with a State-Level Award for outstanding achievement in Bank Linkage activities, presented by Hon’ble Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Mrs. Seethakka.

Infrastructure Development

Establishment of Own Building

A significant milestone in the journey of Pragati Mandal Samakhya was the construction of its own office building. The building was inaugurated in 2016 by the Hon’ble MLA, providing the organization with a permanent administrative and operational center.

Women Empowerment Initiatives

Revolving Fund Support

During the financial year 2021–22, a Revolving Fund of ₹10,50,000 was distributed among 70 newly formed Self-Help Groups, with each group receiving ₹15,000. This support helped strengthen group activities and enhance access to financial resources.

Formation of Sneha Groups

Out of the 36 Village Organizations under the Mandal Samakhya, 18 Sneha Groups were established to promote mutual support, leadership development, and collective action among women members.

Dairy Cooperative Development

Ten Indira Mahila Mutual Aid Cooperative Milk Producers’ Societies were established across 21 villages under the Mandal. These societies have provided women with sustainable livelihood opportunities and increased participation in dairy-based income-generating activities.

Literacy Promotion Program

A survey conducted across 21 villages identified 2,150 illiterate women. To address this challenge, 215 volunteers were selected and provided Ullas training at the Mandal level, enabling them to support literacy and educational initiatives within their communities.

Digital Transactions Initiative

Pilot Mandal for Digital Transactions

Geesugonda Mandal was selected as a pilot Mandal in Warangal District for promoting digital transactions. As a result, digital financial transactions are now being carried out in every village within the Mandal, contributing to greater financial inclusion and transparency.

Expansion of Financial Services

The Self-Help Groups under Pragati Mandal Samakhya have consistently benefited from bank linkage programs, gaining access to substantial financial resources. Between 2014–15 and 2025–26, hundreds of SHGs received bank loans amounting to several crores of rupees. Notably, during 2024–25, 774 SHGs secured bank linkage loans worth ₹56.06 crore, while in 2025–26, 870 SHGs obtained loans totaling ₹41.13 crore. These initiatives have significantly strengthened women’s economic independence and entrepreneurial capacity.

Stree Nidhi Program

Financial Empowerment Through Stree Nidhi

Access to Affordable Credit

Village Organizations have effectively utilized the Stree Nidhi platform to provide affordable loans to women members. From 2014–15 to 2025–26, numerous VOs accessed financial assistance through Stree Nidhi, enabling women to expand businesses, improve livelihoods, and strengthen household economic stability.

Agriculture and Food Processing Initiatives (FORM)

Farmer Producer Groups

Formation of FPGs and LPGs

The Mandal Samakhya facilitated the formation of 16 Farmer Producer Groups (FPGs) and 7 Livestock Producer Groups (LPGs). These groups received a grant of ₹2,00,000 from SERP, helping them strengthen agricultural and livestock-based livelihood activities.

Agricultural Equipment Rental Center

In the financial year 2022–23, an Agricultural Equipment Rental Center was established to support local farmers. The project was implemented with a SERP grant of ₹5,42,000 and an additional contribution of ₹7,46,700 from Mandal Samakhya funds, bringing the total investment to ₹12,88,700.

Food Processing Development

Grants and Loan Support

The Mandal Samakhya received a grant of ₹5,60,000 for food processing initiatives. Through this program, 14 members from 10 Village Organizations received loans of ₹40,000 each at an interest rate of only 0.25%, encouraging entrepreneurship and value-added food production activities.

PMFME Scheme Implementation

Under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) were prepared for 15 beneficiaries. During the financial year 2023–24, bank loans totaling ₹22,52,000 were facilitated for 15 beneficiaries with a 35% government subsidy. In 2024–25, an additional beneficiary received a bank-linked loan of ₹1.20 lakh under the same scheme.

Livelihood Development Programs (Non-FORM)

Income Enhancement Activities

Livelihood Promotion

During 2024–25, livelihood opportunities were created for 479 members through Bank Linkage, Stree Nidhi, and CIF loans. These interventions contributed significantly to income generation and economic stability among women members.

Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing Unit

A Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing Unit was established through the SERP Stree Shakti Sanitary Napkins Joint Liability Group with a bank loan of ₹15,00,000. The initiative not only generates employment for women but also promotes awareness and access to affordable hygiene products in rural communities.

Audit and Revenue Growth

Transparent Financial Management

Pragati Mandal Samakhya maintains a strong commitment to transparency by conducting annual audits of its financial activities. The organization’s income increased steadily over the years, beginning with ₹3.28 lakh in 2014–15 and reaching ₹12.34 lakh in 2020–21. The Samakhya has continued to maintain stable revenue generation, reporting an income of ₹6.41 lakh during the financial year 2024–25.
